2012/2013 Tryout Information & Instructions NEW THIS SEASON

Please note the changes in the CEVA (Columbia Empire Volleyball Association/USA Volleyball) regarding tryout procedures and payment, player membership registration and payment, as well as a newly created “commitment” policy.  The new commitment policy is to allow players to attend multiple club tryouts and find out what their options are before needing to make a decision.

All players wishing to participate at a club tryout (any club) must register and pay a $10 fee that covers insurance (good for 5 days of tryouts).  This is done through the CEVA website (by credit card) and will cover your participation at any scheduled club tryouts.  A separate facility fee of $15 will be charged for gym rental at the time of your tryout (cash or check…made out to OVC).

Once the student athlete has completed tryouts and is comfortable with their position on a roster/team they can then commit to that club program.  Players/Families will be advised as to when their initial season deposits are due by an announcement posted on the OVC website.  Once a player(s) have made their commitment to a specific club program, they can then return to the CEVA site and “upgrade” their membership to reflect the specific club they will be affiliated with for the season.

Steps to Register for Tryouts:

Important – when selecting a club team during the online registration process prior to tryouts…pick “UNDECIDED”, this will allow players to then participate in several tryouts with other club programs so that a player is given every opportunity to find a club program that fits their needs and expectations.

1.   Go to the CEVA website “Membership”
Returning club players can click on the Direct Log-in link and complete the online membership.  New club players can click on the New Membership Registration link and complete the online membership.
Reminder – your first online payment is the $10 insurance fee and your club selection should be “undecided”.  Once you’ve committed to a team/club then return to the site and upgrade your membership and select your specific club program.

2.   Print and sign the Membership Confirmation Form, Medical Waiver Form, and the Concussion Form.  Please bring all three with you to tryouts.  The Medical Waiver Form and the Concussion Form will automatically show when you complete your CEVA membership.

3.   Please bring $15 for your tryout fee (facility rental)

4.   Please arrive early to tryouts to complete the OVC tryout registration card and turn in forms.

NEW THIS YEAR – members will be required to pay their full CEVA registration/membership fee of $55 online.  this can be done after tryouts and once a final decision is made on what club program and team you have committed to.  If for any reason you forgot your log in information please contact the CEVA office at 503-644-7468.

Why OVC…?

It’s simple, and here are the reasons:

  1. OVC teams do not share a practice court
  2. OVC is a non-profit (501)(3)(c) youth organization dedicated to providing high quality programs and services while keeping fees affordable to members.
  3. OVC coaches are focused on teaching, motivating and inspiring through creating a positive learning environment.
  4. OVC staff includes 4current collegiate coaches from local universities.
  5. Compare our fees…!  Because OVC is a non-profit we are able to keep our fees far more competitive with other area programs.
  6. OVC practice facilities are without question the best sports and volleyball venues in the area.
  7. OVC offers 3 levels of playing opportunities:
Development – shorter season, discounted fees, maximum of 10 players per team
Regional – lower fees, local travel (most tournaments are within Eugene and Portland area)

Oregon Volleyball Club now offers three levels of playing opportunities; Development, Regional, and National teams.

National Teams
National teams are typically our elite groups and will travel or participate in some out of state or multi day events / tournaments.  These events provide a greater level of competition as well as increased exposure to college recruiters.  National teams will often extend their season through the end of May, and at times into June depending if the team qualifies for USAV or AAU National Tournament.

Regional Teams
Our Regional teams will travel less comparatively; usually staying in state and not traveling further than the Portland area.  Regional teams will usually complete their season by the end of April.

Development Teams NEW
Our Development program is specifically designed for players who are beginning their club experience in the U12′s age group only, and looking for a shorter season.  These teams will begin their tournament season in January and end by spring break (March).  OVC Development teams will provide each player the necessary focus on basic fundamentals, game strategies, and creating a fun and enjoyable overall experience.  Development teams will have a maximum of 10 players per team.  Because of the shorter season Development teams will be offered a discount on season fees (please see 2012 season fees page).
